When two art forms meet: Agnella goes to the Opera

Agnella’s latest collaboration with the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic combines the brand’s passions for art, culture and creative expression with a celebration of the work of Polish composer Chopin.

As one of central Europe’s leading contemporary destinations for music and performance, the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok is known for an exciting programme of events, attracting musical talent from across the globe. Now, with its celebration of Chopin in partnership with Agnella, they are shining a spotlight on local talent – past and present.

“Autumn with Chopin” is a series of piano recitals which brings together outstanding pianists of all ages, and from all over Poland, to recreate the timeless classical music of the great composer. Born in Żelazowa Wola, close to Warsaw, Chopin spent much of his life in Paris and, interestingly, in the salon of his final apartment in the city, a wonderful abstract rug takes pride of place.

Drawing inspiration from Chopin’s music influence, and his colourful and individual sense of style, Agnella created a striking rug design to be displayed in the foyer of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in Białystok. This unique piece features a striking freehand drawing using 100% wool and made at our in-house studio, and showcases the innovative design, high quality and hand-craftsmanship that Agnella rugs are known for. Elsewhere, other rugs from the Agnella collections adorned the stage and other artist areas, adding to the dramatic atmosphere.

Despite the ongoing pandemic meaning that the concerts could no longer take place with a live audience, in the spirit of Chopin, the show went on – online, in fact – with the musical performances streamed from the grand setting of the theatre into the homes of thousands of Chopin fans worldwide.
